Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that it will skip Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 next year. This comes as a very surprising move as this is the first time in 24 years that Sony will not joining E3.
Sony is major player in the gaming industry, having developed the PlayStation console brand along with its own exclusive games. It has also skipped this years PlayStation Experience, another conference that Sony held starting from 2014 to 2017. It is currently unknown if Sony plans to have their own major conference next year much like Blizzard’s Blizzcon.
Their upcoming big games spearheaded by Death Stranding and The Last of Us 2 is speculated to release in the second half of 2019 but there are still no firm announcements regarding their release dates except for Days Gone. With rumors of a PS5 announcement just around the corner and the decision to skip E3 next year, the upcoming games might not be headed to the PS4 after all. The PlayStation 5 is speculated to release at 2020, and the E3 2019 nonattendance can be sign that they are planning a different style of announcement for their next console.
